Mike Lohmann

U.S. Team Driver - New York

Team driver since 2008

Officially since 2008, I have however product tested and assisted RC4WD since Hua started RC4WD in 2001. I am RC4WD’s longest running Team Driver.

I started in the hobby with a Tyco Bandit. At the age of 9, my stepfather Jeff gifted me my 1st real hobby grade RC, a Tamiya Blackfoot with a Tamiya Lunch Box body on it. When I turned 10 I received my 1st Clodbuster. Since then, I have amassed a collection of over 150 RC trucks and cars. The collection consists of many RC4WD based trucks, many Tamiya, Axial, kyosho, and other various custom cars and trucks including everything from scale rock crawlers, monster trucks, and drag cars with a sprinkle of boats in the mix. I am a part time contributor for RC Car Action magazine and enjoy writing articles for them. I have worked with in the industry in product development to help bring the most realistic items to market, I have also worked with full size vehicle companies to promote the RC Hobby including Hagerty.

In order to share my RC passion I started a Youtube channel, Instagram, and Facebook dubbed “Mike’s RC World” where I share my collection and builds for all to see.

My passion for the hobby stems from passion for full size cars and trucks. I have enjoyed wheeling full size trucks for the last near 20 years, and have been active 4 wheeler at Rausch Creek Offroad park. My current wheeling rig being a 1985 Toyota Pickup with an Exo cage, lockers front and rear, dual transfer cases with 4.7:1 kit, bobbed bed etc. I am also involved in drag racing and have a 1968 SS Chevelle with a 509ci big block chevy with small roots blower. I am avid car enthusiast/collector and also have a 1987 IROC Z Z28 and a 1991 Nissan Skyline GTR R32. I was a Toyota technician for many years before entering into civil service/local law enforcement. My RC accolades include a couple of Best of Show wins, Best Detail, and others. I have had many of my RCs featured in RC Car Action magazine both in Readers Rides and full spreads with in the magazine. Many of my full-size vehicles have received awards as well, a 1985 Toyota pickup show truck I had called “Too Rad For You” won a Radwood “Raddest in show” in Philly a few years back and my R32 GTR has won Best R32 in an all-Nissan Skyline east coast show. I take a lot of pride in my attention to detail.

When did you start RC? Hobby grade began at 9
What is your category (scale, comp, HM)? I am die hard scale guy, and primarily build “Doll House” trucks. After that I am a very avid vintage clodbuster builder/collector.
Favorite Part about RC? Building and collecting but also my friends I have made from the hobby from all over the world
Do you remember your first RC? Tyco Bandit
Favorite RC Memory? Being in the hobby for 30 years there is no way I can narrow down just one memory, I have many great memories of racing monster trucks, RC crawling for a national event in Moab and many others.
Favorite RC4WD platform (TF2, G2, CC): For sure the TF2 is my favorite.
Favorite Hobby Shop to visit? Unfortunately, there aren’t many hobby shops left on the island that sell cars/trucks or items I am into, I am a big spender on RPP Hobby and RC4WD.
